Cigna Achilles Half Marathon
  • The Cigna Achilles Half Marathon starts at 7.45am.
  • Please arrive at Frank Kitts Park at least 30 minutes before the start time in order to familiarise yourself with the start area and hear the health and safety briefing prior to the half marathon event starting.
  • Please ensure you are in the correct start area. Pace runners are spaced at intervals in the start area and identified by the walking billboard signage. Please start behind the Pace Runner for your estimated finish time.
  • Please be aware of those around you.
  • If you are in a wheelchair please keep to the left.
  • If you have a buggy, please stay to the back of the crowd.
  • There is no rush to get to the start line; your timing chip (located on the back of your bib – do not remove or fold this) will not be activated until you physically cross the start line mat.
  • As you move forward towards the start line please be aware that the width of the area narrows to get everyone across the timing mat – please watch your step!
  • Whilst we do allow the use of headphones, please ensure you are able to hear and follow the instructions of our marshals.
  • The Half Marathon course is measured and sanctioned by Athletics Wellington. The correct line follows the left hand side of the road the entire way.
  • It is an out and back course – Please keep left at all times to avoid on-coming runners and do not cut the corners on Shelly Bay and Massey Roads.
  • Please take care when merging with the 10km runners at the 10km turnaround on Shelly Bay Road. Keep to the left, 10km runners will be entering the course from your right before moving to the left hand side of the road.
  • There may be vehicles on course including official or emergency service vehicles which may need to get through the crowd.
  • If you are still on course at midday, marshals will ask you to move onto footpaths or to the side of the road – for your safety please do so immediately. Marshals will be leaving the course at 1pm.
  • Water stations are situated at Balaena Bay and then along the half marathon course at approximately 3km intervals. Powerade as well as water, will be available at the half marathon water stations.
  • If you require assistance at any time throughout the event please speak with a marshal on course or at a water station.
  • Please ensure you prepare adequately for the event, including dressing suitably for the conditions.
  • Please note the legal road closure and no parking areas on the course, these are available on our website. Participants who park in available spaces on-course are not permitted to drive through the course road closures, under any circumstances, until the roads have officially been re-opened.
